Rodtang’s Stellar Run In ONE Championship’s Kickboxing Division

The ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Champion has vowed to become the king of flyweight striking arts in The Home of Martial Arts.

Singapore, March 20: With 13 wins to his name inside the ONE Championship Circle, Rodtang Jitmuangnon has long reigned over the flyweight Muay Thai division. But lately, he has his eyes on another coveted World Title.

The ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Champion has vowed to become the king of flyweight striking arts in The Home of Martial Arts.

Rodtang Jitmuangnon

When he meets ONE Flyweight Kickboxing World Champion Superlek Kiatmoo9 at ONE Fight Night 8 on Saturday, 25 March, he'll look to prove just that.

Before returning to kickboxing action this past January, it had been nearly two years since "The Iron Man" strapped on the big gloves. In his first kickboxing bout in ONE, the slick striker met Russian prodigy Tagir Khalilov in February 2021 at ONE: FISTS OF FURY.

Over the course of three rounds, Khalilov tried to put Rodtang on the backfoot, but that is no easy mission to complete. While the bout went the distance, it was Rodtang who left victorious, edging a split decision over "Samingpri."

Rodtang returned to Muay Thai following the contest, and having further asserted himself as the top dog in the yard, the Bangkok banger needed a fresh goal to hunt - the flyweight kickboxing crown.

"The Iron Man" stepped back into the Circle at ONE Fight Night 6 earlier this year with a shot at the kickboxing helm hanging in the balance. All he had to do was defeat durable Chinese kickboxer Jiduo Yibu.

In typical Rodtang fashion not only did he win, but he breezed through Jiduo with sharp kicks and punches that left no question about who the victor would be.

With his hand raised and moving to 2-0 in ONE flyweight kickboxing action, a mouthwatering striking matchup was made once Superlek defeated Daniel Puertas for the vacant ONE Flyweight Kickboxing World Title.

For striking fans worldwide, this bout has been what they could've only wished for until now. Because Superlek recently took the throne, it won't be a prize he wants to relinquish so soon. And because Rodtang's promises are rarely ever broken, this fight looks too close to call even for the experts.
