Rodtang Stripped of Flyweight Muay Thai Title After Failing to Make Weight Ahead of ONE 169

Rodtang Jitmuangnon stripped of ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Title after failing to make weight for co-main event of ONE 169, which is scheduled to be staged at the Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok on Saturday (November 9).

Rodtang was scheduled to defend his title against Jacob Smith in the co-headliner, but the champion weighed in over the limit during Thursday's official weigh-ins and was forced to vacate the title with the bout now set to be contested at catchweight.

Although the fight will be contested at catchweight of 135.5 pounds, Jacob Smith will still be eligible to win the Flyweight title as he passed weight and hydration on the eve of the ONE 169 event.

"The Iron Man" Rodtang dominated Smith en route to a decision win back at ONE 157 in May 2022, but the #3-ranked Englishman will be hungry for redemption as he seeks the biggest prize in Muay Thai.

Rodtang had held the ONE Flyweight Muay Thai title for the last five years and had made five successful title defences with latest coming against Edgar Tabares in 2023. His most recent fight, however, was a kickboxing clash against Denis Purić earlier this year in June.

Earlier, ONE 169 lost it's original headliner when Jo Nattawut was forced to withdraw from his trilogy fight against Tawanchai PK Saenchai for the ONE Featherweight Muay Thai World Championship.

Meanwhile, Christian Lee's ONE Lightweight World Championship bout against the undefeated Alibeg Rasulov also was moved from the event due to unknown reasons. Despite all the changes, three title bouts still remain on the card.

The ONE 169 card is headlined by a heavyweight MMA title fight, as triple-champ Anatoly Malykhin takes on the massive Ourmar Kane, popularly known as "Reug Reug." Plus, Anissa Meksen and Jackie Buntan will do battle for the inaugural ONE Women's Strawweight Kickboxing World Championship.

Also on the card, former ONE bantamweight champion Adriano Moraes, returns to action for the first time since completing his trilogy with the "Mighty Mouse" Demetrious Johnson. Moraes takes on Danny Kingad in a flyweight MMA bout.
