Rohit Bisht storms into under-16, under-14 finals

Mumbai, May 4 (UNI) Rohit Bisht of Delhi has made the tournament his own after setting himself up for a triple crown, in the All India National Series and Maharashtra State Ranking Tennis Tournament 2007, co-sponsored by DHFL and IOCL, at Practennis, Andheri today.

Bisht stormed into the under-16 and under-14 individual finals and capped a rewarding penultimate day of the competition by winning the under-14 doubles final.

Seeded No 7 in the under-16 category, Bisht demolished No 4 Chetan Pandit of Andhra Pradesh 6-2, 6-1 for a comfortable passage into the championship round.

He will take on third seed Samip Mehta of Gujarat, who crushed Sagar Ahuja of Maharashtra 6-2, 6-3.

As under-14 top seed, Bisht later demolished No 6 Arjun Kadhe of Pune 6-2, 6-1 in the semi-finals.

In the final, he will take on his under-14 doubles partner Digvijay Singh of Himachal Pradesh, who knocked out unseeded Siddharth Rawat of Uttar Pradesh.

Bisht and Singh went on to win the under-14 doubles crown following a 3-6, 6-3, 7-5 victory over Vishwesh Sinha and Tushal Thawani.

No 5 seed Rashmi Teltumbde of Maharashtra will face wild card Carol Augustine of Delhi in the girls' under-16 final.

Top seed Shweta Rana of Delhi and No 2 Sharon S Paul of Tamil Nadu will contest the girls' under-14 final, following contrasting semi-final wins.
