Ronjon Sodhi wins silver in shooting

New Delhi, Oct 28: Double trap shooter Ronjon Sodhi won a silver medal and helped the Indian team to bag the bronze, while Olympic silver medallist Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore failed to reach the final at the Asian Clay Championship at Manila, today.

According to information received here Ronjon narrowly missed the gold in the tie shoot out. He and China's Hu Binyuan were tied at identical score of 187, which led to the shoot out, in which the Chinese emerged victorious.

Ronjon shot 141 (45, 49, 47) in the qualifying rounds, four points less then Binyuan's score of 145 but the Indian drew parity with his rival with a superb final round performance in which he shot 46.

Qatar's Rashid Al Athba finished third for a bronze medal with the score of 185 (139+46).

Rajyavardhan Rathore failed to make it to the final as he finished 9th with the score of 134 (44, 47, 43) and Vikram Chopra ended up 13th with a score of 126 (37, 41, 47).

India's team bronze came with an effort of 400/450. China won the gold with 419 while Kuwait claimed silver with 404 points.
