Rooney dismisses rumours of move to Real Madrid, Barcelona

By Super Admin

London, Jan 26(ANI): Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney has pledged his future with the club, saying he is "very happy at Old Trafford".

Rooney is in red-hot form after scoring 19 Premier League goals so far this season, but speculation about him leaving United has been fuelled by club's struggle to deal with a 716 million pound debt.

"There's always speculation and when other big teams are talking about you it's nice. But as I've said many times before, I am a United player and I am very happy at Old Trafford," The Sun quoted Rooney, as saying.

Real Madrid and Barcelona had stepped up their interest on the back of his four-goal glut against Hull, but his comments signal that there will be no repeat of Cristiano Ronaldo's 80 million pound exit to Madrid.

Rooney, whose current deal runs to 2012, further said that while concentrating on his future with United, he will be looking forward to win the Premier League for the fourth successive time.

"We've won the League for the last three years and nobody has ever won four in a row. We want to create history," Rooney said.

"The title race is much tighter this year and it's probably more exciting for the neutrals or fans around the country. But we're hoping that now we are top we can go on and remain there for the rest of the season," he added. (ANI)
