Rory McIlroy feels he is nearing his peak form as he shares the lead at the Scottish Open. After trailing Chris Gotterup by four shots, McIlroy caught up to him at 11 under on the third day at the Renaissance Club. The 36-year-old golfer achieved five birdies and one bogey in his third round, aiming for his second Scottish Open victory.
McIlroy acknowledged a dip in performance since his Masters win in April but believes he's regaining momentum. "I think I'm pretty close to being back to the level I was at going into the Masters," McIlroy stated. He explained that achieving a lifelong dream required some time to process, but now he feels rejuvenated and eager for the rest of the year.

The atmosphere at the Scottish Open has invigorated McIlroy, who expressed renewed enthusiasm for upcoming tournaments. "To be back here for the last couple of weeks, and feel like I could actually digest all of it, I feel like I came to this tournament with renewed enthusiasm and excitement for the rest of the year," he shared.
Meanwhile, Wyndham Clark, winner of the 2023 US Open, is tied for third place at nine under. Despite only one top-ten finish this year and missing cuts in two of his last three events, Clark remains hopeful about his chances in the final round. "It's just nice to be back in this position and let's see if I can go put a good round together and have four solid days of golf," Clark remarked.
Clark has been working on his putting technique throughout the year. He noted improvements recently: "I've hit a lot of good putts all year and just haven't holed anything. Now it's nice to see the ball go in the hole. I made a couple of adjustments and they seemed to work."
As McIlroy aims for another title and Clark seeks consistency, both golfers are poised for an exciting conclusion to their Scottish Open campaigns. The tournament's final rounds promise intense competition as players strive to secure top positions on the leaderboard.
