Antoine Rozner Takes Halfway Lead At DP World Tour Championship In Dubai As McIlroy And Hatton Pursue

Antoine Rozner leads the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai after a strong second round. Rory McIlroy and Tyrrell Hatton are tied for second place, just one shot behind.

Antoine Rozner leads the DP World Tour Championship at the halfway point, holding a one-shot advantage over Rory McIlroy. Rozner's impressive second round of 65 on Friday put him at nine under par. McIlroy, who had initially taken a strong lead with four birdies in the first seven holes, faltered mid-round with two bogeys.

Rory McIlroy needs to finish 11th or better to secure the Race to Dubai title. He shares second place with Tyrrell Hatton, who was also a joint leader after the first round. Reflecting on his performance, McIlroy said, "I got off to a great start, four under through seven. I was feeling like I was in total control of what I was doing, and then I just started to miss a few fairways around the turn."

Rozner Leads at DP World Tour Championship

The Northern Irishman noted that missing fairways made it difficult due to the course setup. "When you start missing fairways the way the course is set up this week, you're going to start to struggle," he added. Despite this setback, he managed to stabilize his game towards the end of his round.

Joaquin Niemann is two strokes behind in fourth place. Shane Lowry and Rasmus Hojgaard are among those tied for sixth at six under par. Meanwhile, Thriston Lawrence remains nine shots behind Rozner and is tied for 34th after scoring a second-round 71.

Lawrence is the only player who can still challenge McIlroy for the season-long title if he wins in Dubai. However, his chances took a hit with a bogey on his final hole.

McIlroy expressed some disappointment about missed opportunities but found solace in finishing strong. "So I made two bogeys in the next three holes," he said. "I steadied the ship a little bit but felt like I let a couple of chances slip by on 14 and 15 but played the last three holes well."

The tournament continues as players aim for top positions in this prestigious event. The competition remains fierce as they navigate challenging conditions on this renowned course.
