Jamaica, Oct 25: Sticking to his earlier position that former Pakistan cricket coach Bob Woolmer did not die of natural cause, Chief consultant forensic pathologist, Dr Ere Sheshiah dropped a bomb shell saying the Englishman died from pesticide poisoning.

Sheshiah, an Indian who has been living here for the last 15 years, said yesterday before the coroner's inquest that Woolmer ''died of manual strangulation associated with Cypermethrin poison,'' according to radio Jamaica.

Cypermethrin is a pesticide that is used in a wide scale in various countries, including Pakistan, United Kingdom, India, China and Bangladesh.

Initially Sheshiah had said that Woolmer died from asphixia caused by manual strangulation.

However, after receiving the long-awaited toxicology report he amended his conclusion.

Sheshiah also added that despite repeated requests he did not receive the final toxicology report until June 21.

In addition, he confirmed that he was the last person to have received the results of the X-ray on the hyoid bone.

South African professor Lorna Martin, along with Nathaniel Cary and Michael Pollanen, had earlier ruled out death by manual strangulation.

Martin has also cast aspersion on Dr Seshaiah's autopsy procedure terming it not up upto ''international standards''.

The 58-year-old Woolmer was found unconscious in his Kingston Hotel on March 18, a day after Pakistan made a shocking exit from the Caribbean World Cup after their unexpected loss to Ireland. He was pronounced dead at a local hospital shortly after.

Dr Sheshiah will continue his testimony today before the coroner's inquest.
