Sandeep, Rinki shocked in Otters Open squash tournament

Mumbai, May 18 (UNI) Egypt's Samy Farrag shocked No 3 Sandeep Jangra and unseeded Swati Muchal upset women's No 2 Rinki Soni, in the Otters Million Open Squash Tournament 2007 at the Otters Club here today.

On a dramatic day of upsets, sixth seed Farrag, who is in Mumbai on a coaching stint, taught Jangra a few lessons in their favourite sport en route to a 9-7, 9-1, 9-0 win in the men's open quarter-finals.

In another keen men's quarter-final, no 4 Parthiban Ayappan of Chennai recovered from the loss of the opening game to rally to a convincing 3-9, 9-3, 9-2, 9-0 win over fifth seed Akhil Behl.

But Muchal fashioned the biggest upset when she shunted out second seed Soni in the women's quarter-finals following a facile 9-2, 9-2, 9-3 win.

Top seed Ankita Sharma lived up to her reputation with a 9-0, 9-0, 9-0 demolition of Komal Sharma in another women's quarter-final tie.
