‘I Fight For 145 Indian Crores’: Sangram Singh Ready For High-Stakes Asia Champion Title Fight Against Pakistan’s Abid Ali

New Delhi, July 8: Indian wrestler and unbeaten MMA fighter Sangram Singh said he is ready for his Asia Champion Title Fight against Pakistan’s Abid Ali in Kaulampur, Malaysia, on 19th of July. He said his aim is to raise the Indian tricolour on the international stage.

The pre-fight press conference was held at The Lalit, New Delhi, with Sangram Singh, President of PMMA Malaysia, Ismail Marzuki Bin, PMMA CEO, Mohammed Hakim Bin Lukman Abdullah, organising committee members, a representative of Sangram’s coaching team, and media present. The India versus Pakistan bout has already drawn strong interest.

Sangram Singh ready for title fight

Sangram, a two-time Commonwealth Heavyweight Wrestling Champion, has stayed unbeaten after moving to professional MMA. He beat Pakistan’s Ali Raza Nasir in Georgia in 90 seconds, then defeated Tunisia’s Hakim Trabelsi in the Netherlands and France’s Florian Coudier in Argentina. He is 3-0 and was the first Indian to win a professional MMA bout in Argentina.

He also serves as a Fit India Icon under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and is Brand Ambassador for the Swachh Bharat & Viksit Bharat Campaigns by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. His MMA campaign has received support from Fit India and the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports to promote fitness and Indian athletes abroad.

'I Fight For 145 Crore Indians...'- Sangram Singh In Pre-Match Press Con

Sangram said, “Every time I step into the cage, I don't just fight for myself; I fight for 145 crore Indians. India versus Pakistan is always special, irrespective of the sport, and I fully understand the emotions attached to this contest.

“I have trained with complete discipline and respect for my opponent, but once the cage closes, my only mission will be to ensure that the Indian flag flies high. I believe fitness, dedication and mental strength are the biggest weapons any athlete can possess.”

Deputy Director General, Sports Authority of India, Mayank Srivastava (IPS), said Sangram reflects discipline, resilience, determination, and excellence. He added that Sangram’s move from wrestling to unbeaten professional MMA shows what hard work can achieve and can inspire young Indians to focus on fitness and sport.

Coach Bhupesh Kumar said Sangram had prepared fully, with better striking, conditioning, and mental toughness over two years. Ismail Marzuki Bin said the Asia Champion Title represents the future of MMA in Asia, while Mohammed Hakim Bin Lukman Abdullah said the event shows unity through sport and may grow into one of Asia’s premier MMA properties.
