SAT, Orissa, SSCB and NPS Academy win in Challenge Cup
Chandigarh, Sept 2 (UNI) Sports Authority of India (Group B), New Public School Football Academy, Chandigarh (group C) and Orissa Football Academy (Group A) recorded victories on the second day of the fifth Administrator's Challenge Cup All India Football Tournament for boys Under-17 being played here today.
After a humiliating 6-1 defeat suffered at the hands of hosts state-run Chandigarh Football Academy yesterday, Orissa FA today blanked Delhi Football Association by 3-0. SK Naim (22), Mahendra Nayak (42nd) and Sudam Soren (52d) contributed one goal each for the winners.
Sports Authority of India edged Punjab Football Association by 1-0. The match-winner was scored by Paresh Sardar who converted a spot kick in the 27th minute.
Six yellow cards were shown to players from both sides (three each) for rough play and unsportsmanship behaviour. Manjeet Singh of PFA was given red card and sent off the field by referee Amrik Singh in the ninth minute. Manjeet indulged in rough play in the fourth minute and repeated the same foul in the ninth minute, inviting the red card.
New Public School Sports Academy, Chandigarh routed Mizoram Football Academy by 3-0. Sukhmat (31st), Nikhil Pradad (67th, spot kick) and KH Vikram (75th) were the winners' goal-getters.
In a group D encounter, Formidable Services Sports Control Board outplayed Sanjay Public School Academy by 3-0. Sunny Kumar (4th), Lakhi Ram Murmur (47th) and Sanjay Kumar (72nd) fashioned SSCB's facile triumph.
Rajasthan Football Association got a walkover against Andhra Pradesh Football Association.
