Saurashtra makes 352 for 8 against Karnataka
Rajkot, Jan 12 (UNI) Kanaiya Vaghela's sparkling knock of 101 and valuable contributions from Sagar Jogiyani (80) and Cheteshwar Pujarat (62) helped Saurashtra score 352 for eight on the penultimate day of the four-day Super League Ranji match against Karnataka at the Madhavrao Scindia ground here today.
On a batting track, opener Kanaiya Vaghela started their innings at his overnight score of 32 and continued to play with ease and hit the loose deliveries while his co-partner S Jogiyani who was more aggressive made exit early exit after adding another 18 runs to his overnight socre of 62.
Medium pacer R Bhaktal took his wicket and bowled him. His useful knock of 80 runs included thirteen hits to the fence and one over rope while facing 96 balls.
Kanaiya Vaghela completed his century with the help of sixteen well-timed boundaries. He was sent back immediately after making 101 runs. Medium pacer B Akhil lured him with a slow delivery and the batsman gave him simple returned catch.
Teenager Chateshwar Pujara, who was included among for the World Cup probables, made 62 runs with the aid 10 boundaries and faced 98 balls.
The hosts still requires 49 runs to avoid the follow on.
At stumps, Firzo Bambahnia was batting on 26 while Sandip Maniar giving him company on zero.
