Saurashtra score 357-9, Chateswar slams 132, Ashwin bags 5-99

Chennai, Sep 17 (UNI) Saurashtra hit up 357 losing nine wickets, in the stipulated 90 overs in their first innings, riding on Chateshwar Poojara's century knock of 132, at stumps on the first day of the All India Buchi Babu cricket tournament final against Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA XI) at M A Chidambaram stadium here today.

The TNCA XI bowlers had a battle on their hands as Saurashtra batsmen Poojara and left-hander Ravindra Jadeja (84, 179 minutes, 173 balls, eight fours and three sixes) took them on. Poojara, the no 3 batsman was at the wicket for 325 minutes and in is 252 balll knock hit four fours and three sixes.

The two added 189 runs for the fourth wicket off 44.5 overs.

Opener Sagar D Jogiyan was the other main scorer for Saurashtra with 36 off 62 balls with nine fours.

Tamil Nadu off-spinner R Ashwin claimed five wickets for 99 runs off 35 overs. R Prabhu, who also bowled off breaks claimed 3-125 off 29 overs he bowled Brief Scores: Saurashtra 357 for 9 in 90 overs (Sagar D Jigiyan 36, C Poojara 132, Ravinda Jadeja 84, R Ashwin 5-99, M Prabhu 3-125).
