Sawani appointed ACSU general manager

Mumbai, Nov 8 (UNI) The ICC today announced the appointment of Ravi Sawani as the new general manager and chief investigator of its anti-corruption and security unit (ACSU).

Fifty seven-year-old Sawani, hailing from Chennai, takes over from Jeff Rees who will be retiring after hodling the post since the inception of the ACSU in 2000.

Sawani will begin his role in Dubai next week and, along side ACSU chairman Lord Condon, will work with three investigators and five regional security managers, a release issued by ICC manager (media and communications) Brian Murgatroyd said.

Mr Sawani has 30 years of experience in the Indian Police Service of which he had spent seven years with the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) as its joint director (special crime).

As CBI joint director, Sawani had worked into the inquiries on match-fixing cases.
