Scottie Scheffler experienced a challenging third round at the Houston Open on Saturday. Despite setting a course record with a 62 at Memorial Park the previous day, he struggled with his putting and ended with a one-under 69. This performance placed him in a tie for third at 12 under, trailing leader Min Woo Lee by five strokes.
Min Woo Lee delivered an impressive performance, recording seven birdies without any bogeys to reach 17 under. This score set a new 54-hole tournament record. Reflecting on his play, Lee stated: "Hopefully tomorrow is another good day. Similar golf [to win]. Just got to play pretty steady off the tee. A couple shaky drives at the end but kind of regrouped and made it happen. Just keeping my head down and one shot at a time."

Rory McIlroy is currently eight shots behind as he continues to prepare for the Masters. The Northern Irishman, who recently won the Players Championship, admitted he wasn't performing at his peak. "I played okay," McIlroy mentioned. "It was nice to get out there and play decent. Certainly didn't have my best, but shot a decent round and hopefully another good one tomorrow."
After his round, Scheffler expressed his frustration with his putting: "Yesterday I holed a bunch of putts, today I feel like I couldn't get the ball to go in the hole. Feel like I hit a lot of good putts. There's not really much you can do different out there. Try to shoot as low as possible today and I'm going to try to do the same thing tomorrow."
Scheffler's inability to replicate his previous day's success on the greens left him contemplating what could have been done differently. Despite this setback, he remains focused on improving his game in the final round.
