Scottie Scheffler is confident that the unusual hand injury he suffered on Christmas Day will not hinder his performance as he returns to compete in this week's AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. The top-ranked golfer had to undergo surgery to remove glass shards from his hand after the incident, which occurred while preparing Christmas dinner.
Despite missing the initial two tournaments of 2025, The Sentry and Sony Open, due to recovery, Scheffler is set to make his season debut at Pebble Beach. Last year, he secured a joint-sixth place finish at this event. The 28-year-old golfer is not worried about any lingering effects from the surgery and has no plans to participate in extra tournaments to compensate for his earlier absence.

Scheffler described the injury as frustrating, saying, "It's one of those deals where, immediately after it happened, I was mad at myself because I was like: 'gosh, that's so stupid', but you just don't think about it when you're in the moment." He realised something was wrong when his hand wasn't moving properly and caused significant pain upon movement.
The reigning Masters and Players Championship winner expressed disappointment over missing two events he enjoys playing. However, he emphasised that he doesn't want to disrupt his schedule's rhythm by adding more tournaments unnecessarily. "If I feel like I want to add one to get some extra reps in, I will," Scheffler stated.
Scheffler's determination remains strong as he prepares for his return at Pebble Beach. His focus is on maintaining his usual schedule unless additional practice becomes necessary. This approach reflects his commitment to balancing recovery with competitive readiness without rushing back into action.
