Scottie Scheffler clinched his fourth major title with a commanding performance at The Open. He has now triumphed in three of the four majors, missing only the U.S. Open. At Royal Portrush, Scheffler led by four strokes after day three and secured victory with a three-under-par 68 on Sunday. This brought his total to 17 under, four strokes ahead of Harris English, who finished at 13 under.
Chris Gotterup completed an all-American top three by finishing third at 12 under. Scheffler's dominance was evident as he took control early with four birdies on the front nine, despite a double bogey on the eighth hole. His calm back nine ensured his first Open win. A missed birdie putt on the last hole didn't matter as he tapped in for victory.

Rory McIlroy's impressive Saturday round put him in contention, but despite gaining two shots in his final round, he couldn't catch Scheffler. McIlroy birdied five holes but two bogeys hindered his challenge. He tied for seventh with Xander Schauffele and Robert MacIntyre, finishing on 10 under.
Xander Schauffele, last year's Open champion, narrowly missed a birdie putt on the final hole to finish alongside McIlroy and MacIntyre. Matt Fitzpatrick surged late to end one stroke ahead at 11 under. Li Haotong also gained a shot late to join Fitzpatrick and Wyndham Clark in T4.
Bryson DeChambeau had an outstanding fourth round, carding a seven-under 64—the best of the day—to finish T10. Phil Mickelson ended with a four-under score for one under overall. Shane Lowry and Jordan Spieth both concluded their tournaments at two under.
Lee Westwood returned to major competition for the first time since 2022, finishing with a two-over-par 73. He ended level with Jon Rahm and one stroke ahead of Lowry and Spieth overall.
Scheffler's victory makes him the 31st man to win four or more major titles. He joins an elite group as only the ninth player to win each of the Masters, PGA Championship, and The Open. Before turning 30, only Tiger Woods, Jack Nicklaus, and Gary Player had achieved this feat.
This triumph cements Scheffler's status among golf's greats as he continues to build an impressive career record.
