Selvadurai lifts ONGC Golf Cup

Chennai, Jan 11 (UNI) Top amateur golfer L Selvadurai swung his way to victory, returning with an even-par score of 70 to life the title in the ONGC Golf-Director (HR) Cup at the Gymkhana golf course here today.

With a three-shot lead, Selvadurai of ONGC, took home the glittering crystal trophy.

In other events, Gaurav Syal edged out Darshan Veeraraghavan on a count-back after both were tied at 3-over 73 and emerged victorious in the Individual Open Category played on a stroke play format.

In the Individual Handicap Category played on a stableford format, Ramamridham secured first place in the gold division (0-12 handicap category) with 40 points, beating K Jagannathan (also 40 points) on a count-back.

In the silver division (12-24 handicap category) K Samuel (ONGC) finished victorious with 45 points with Munir Seth coming in a close second with 44 points.

A special handicap category for ONGC personnel saw S K Dhar emerge victorious with 39 points and Kanne Raju finished second with 38 points.

In a wonderful combination of skill and luck, Ishwar Lalchand conquered the par-3 11th, to give him the first hole-in-one of his golfing career. He also took home the Pin Seeker prize on the same hole for the tee shot closest to the pin.
