Mangaluru, 12 September 2024: Tamil Nadu made waves on the third day of the 77th Senior National Aquatic Championships 2024, setting a new National Meet Record in the Men's 4x100m Medley relay.
The team, consisting of Nithik Nathella, Danush Suresh, B Benedicton Rohit, and Adhithya Dinesh, clocked an impressive 3:45.66, surpassing the previous record of 3:47.22 set by the Services Sports Control Board (SSCB) in 2022.

Karnataka's team-comprising Akash Mani, Vidith S Shankar, Kartikeyan Nair, and Srihari Nataraj-also broke the old record, finishing in 3:46.09 but had to settle for second place.
The International Aquatic Complex at Yemmekere, Mangaluru, was abuzz with excitement as this remarkable achievement unfolded.
Karnataka's Aneesh S Gowda further cemented his dominance in the pool, winning the Men's 1500m Freestyle with a commanding lead. From the second lap, Gowda began to distance himself from the competition, eventually touching the wall at 16:06.11. His teammate, Dharshan S, finished in second place with a time of 16:16.83, while the rest of the pack trailed significantly.
In the Women's 800m Freestyle, Telangana's Vritti Agarwal showcased her prowess by taking an early lead and maintaining it throughout the race. She clocked 9:16.14, finishing comfortably ahead of her competitors. Delhi's Bhavya Sachdeva fought hard in the final stretch, securing second place with a time of 9:19.74, edging out Shirin and Sri Charani Tumu.
The Men's 200m Butterfly saw a closely contested race between Bikram Changmai of the Railway Sports Promotion Board and Haryana's Harsh Saroha. Changmai ultimately emerged victorious, clocking 2:02.76, after pulling away in the final lap. Saroha followed with a time of 2:03.95, while Gujarat's Aryan Preyas Pancha completed the podium with a time of 2:04.41.
In the Women's 200m Butterfly, Karnataka's Hashika Ramachandra continued her golden run, winning her third gold medal of the competition with a time of 2:21.16. Telangana's Vritti Agarwal finished closely behind with 2:21.89, while Railway Sports Promotion Board's Astha Choudhury took third place.
West Bengal's Soubrity Mondal was elated after her gold-winning performance in the Women's 50m Backstroke, setting a time of 30.14. Speaking after the race, she said, "I just wanted to swim as fast as possible and record my personal best. It feels great to win. I have the 200m backstroke tomorrow and want to get my personal best again, a medal is just a consequence."
The third day of the Senior National Aquatic Championships ended with numerous stellar performances and new records, setting the stage for more exciting races ahead.
