Services, Delhi surge ahead in Nationals

Puducherry, Dec 23(UNI) Defending champions Services in the men's section and runner-up Delhi in the women's event continued their winning spree in the league matches of the 58th Senior National Basketball Championships here today.

While Services defeated Karnataka, 60-57, Delhi women prevailed over Chattisgarh, 75-62.

In an evenly contested encounter, Chattisgarh gave a stiff fight, with meritorious performance from Bincy Philip and Ankan Sharma. The Delhi cagers Prasanthi Singh and Magour, however, rose to the occasion and saw to it that the match tilted in their favour.

In another encounter, Indian Railways men made short work of Maharastra, 86-51.

The results- Men Services 60 (Jayaram Jhat 17) beat Karnataka 57(Nixon 20).

Railways 86(Sandeep J Jaan 18, Edwinder Singh 14) beat Maharashtra 51(Mukesh Kumar 22). Delhi 60(Sivakumar, Sowender 14 each) beat West Bengal 43 (P Bhattacharya 14).

MP 65(Hawa Singh 21, Sahudeep Singh 19) beat Puducherry 50 (Harikrishnan 21, Pazhaniraja 10). UP 54(Rudrapradap 19, Anitesh Singh 13) beat Mizoram 34(Zoidian Singh 10).

Chattisgarh 50(Pratam Singh 24)beat J and K 40( Ismail Singh 12).

Orissa 55(A K Naik 21) beat Jharkand 50(B Parmar 11) AP 75 (Verma 18) bt Maharashtra 66(Arjun S 10).

Women Tamil Nadu 90(Nithya I P 21, Sunita 16) beat Maharastra 57(Sweta 15) Delhi 75(Prasanthi Singh and Magour 23 each) beat Chattisgarh 62(Bincy Philip 21 Ankan Sharma 12). MP 53(N Prasanna 14) beat West Bengal 27(S Oran 10). Orissa 47 B Lekha 20) beat Haryana 45 (Kiran 14) Karnataka 58 beat Uttarkand 19.
