2025 has become the year of redemption for Servin Sebastian. After narrowly missing out on a Paris Olympics berth in 2024, the Tamil Nadu race walker has bounced back with grit, fire, and a string of stellar performances that have firmly stamped his authority on the national circuit.
Kicking off the new season with style, Servin stormed to victory in the men's 20km race walk with a personal best of 1:21.23 not just enough for gold, but well inside the Asian Athletics Championships qualifying standard of 1:24.00.

He didn't stop there. At the National Games, Servin shattered the existing meet record of 1:23.26 set by Gurmeet Singh, further underlining his growth and momentum.
And yesterday, at the Indian Open Race Walking Competition in Chandigarh, he claimed yet another gold with a time of 1:21.46. It was a race of rare quality all of the top five finishers dipped under the Asian qualifying mark but Servin once again stood tallest among them.
His coach, Bahadur Basant Rana, believes the best is yet to come. "Servin is still raw, but he's consistently outperforming elite national campers. There's definitely something exceptional about him. Even last year, he was dominating, but fate kept him away from the Olympics," he told myKhel.
Hailing from Lalgudi in Tamil Nadu's Trichy district, Servin's athletic journey began in long-distance running. A few years into his career, he made the switch to race walking a decision that's paying off handsomely.
With confidence soaring and results falling in place, Servin Sebastian's 2025 is more than just a comeback. It's the start of something extraordinary.
