Sex scandal hits Indian Weightlifting

New Delhi, Jul 25: After hockey, now sex scandal hits Indian Weightlifting.

The Indian Weightlifting Federation suspended SAI coach Ramesh Malhotra after Sydney Olympic bronze medallist Karnam Malleswari alleged sexual harassment by him on junior lifters.

Malhotra, who was recommended by the IWF for the Dronacharya Award for the last two years, has been relieved of his job at Bangalore SAI Centre.

“We"ve have suspended Malhotra with immediate effect and have relieved him for his coaching job with Common-wealth core group weightlifters at Bangalore SAI Centre," IWF Secretary General, Sahdev Yadav said.

A three-member panel headed by IWF vice-president Kumbasi Subramanyahas been asked to probe the matter and submit a report in seven days.
