In Game 1 of the Western Conference finals, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 31 points, helping the Oklahoma City Thunder secure a decisive 114-88 win against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was instrumental in the Oklahoma City Thunder's victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves, scoring 20 of his 31 points in the second half. The Thunder, who were top-seeded, won 114-88 in Game 1 of the Western Conference finals. Gilgeous-Alexander also contributed nine assists and made eight out of 14 field goals after halftime.

In contrast, Julius Randle led Minnesota with 28 points but managed only eight in the latter half. Anthony Edwards, who had been averaging 26.5 points per game during the playoffs, was limited to just 18 points on five-of-13 shooting. Oklahoma City had recently defeated Denver in Game 7 of the conference semifinals just two days prior.

Thunder Triumph Over Timberwolves in Game 1

Minnesota had a break since May 14 before this game. They led at halftime with a score of 48-44, thanks to Randle's impressive first-half performance where he scored 20 points and hit five out of six three-pointers. Meanwhile, Gilgeous-Alexander struggled before halftime, scoring only 11 points on two-of-13 shooting.

The Thunder turned things around with a strong third quarter. They went on a decisive 10-0 run to take a lead of 66-60. Kenrich Williams, who hadn't seen much action this postseason, made significant contributions by hitting a midrange jumper and a three-pointer on back-to-back possessions, extending their lead to 71-62.

Oklahoma City dominated the third quarter by outscoring Minnesota 32-18, entering the fourth quarter with a ten-point lead at 76-66. A highlight moment came when Holmgren executed a spinning dunk amidst traffic, pushing Oklahoma City's advantage to 86-75 and energizing the crowd.

Gilgeous-Alexander added another memorable play when he was fouled while falling but still managed to score. He completed the three-point play by making the free throw, increasing their lead to 91-77 with seven minutes left on the clock.

The Thunder's victory sets up an exciting Game 2 scheduled for Thursday in Oklahoma City. With momentum from this win and strong performances from key players like Gilgeous-Alexander and Holmgren, Oklahoma City aims to maintain their edge against Minnesota as they continue their playoff journey.
