Anthony Edwards of the Minnesota Timberwolves praised Oklahoma City Thunder's Shai Gilgeous-Alexander as the NBA's MVP following another stellar performance. The Thunder secured a 113-105 victory over the Timberwolves, with Gilgeous-Alexander scoring 40 points for the third time in five games. He scored 19 points in the third quarter, helping Oklahoma City take control.
This win marked the Thunder's 12th consecutive victory, improving their record to 27-5. Isaiah Hartenstein contributed with 15 points and 10 rebounds, while Lu Dort and Jalen Williams each added 14 points. Despite a slow start, Oklahoma City rallied in the second half, forcing 24 turnovers, including 16 steals.

Edwards managed to score 20 points and grab seven rebounds during the game. He believed he had found a way for Minnesota to regain momentum until Gilgeous-Alexander's late-game heroics. Edwards stated, "He's unguardable...you got to trap him...send a second body." His comments highlighted Gilgeous-Alexander's ability to dominate one-on-one matchups.
Last season, Gilgeous-Alexander narrowly missed out on the MVP award, finishing second to Nikola Jokic. However, Edwards believes this year could be different. "I don't know if they could give it to [Jokic] again," Edwards remarked. "Yeah, I would say Shai...he's consistent every night."
Edwards expressed admiration for how Gilgeous-Alexander consistently performs at a high level. He noted that his team trusts him with the ball every night, allowing him to excel. "It's incredible," Edwards said. "If he is keeping him like that, I hope they give [MVP] to him this year for sure."
Gilgeous-Alexander appreciated receiving recognition from fellow players like Edwards. "No offense to you guys in the media," he said, "but the best satisfaction is when your peers...recognize and respect your craft." He acknowledged that such praise from competitors is particularly gratifying.
The Thunder's recent success and Gilgeous-Alexander's outstanding performances have positioned him as a strong contender for this season's MVP award. As Oklahoma City continues its impressive run, all eyes will be on Gilgeous-Alexander to see if he can maintain his exceptional form.
