Shaili Singh made her second big jump of the season as the long jump prodigy made a 6.65m attempt at the Seiko Golden Grand Prix in Yokohama on Sunday. The effort, however, won't be counted among her efforts for the season as it came with a tailwind beyond the permissible limit.
The effort, which saw a wind speed of +2.1 m/s, helped Shaili Singh finish third and bag the bronze medal behind Maryse Luzolo of Germany, who took the gold with a jump of 6.79m. Brooke Buschkuel of Australia was second with an effort of 6.77m.

Shaili has made a promising start to the season after the previous year was marred with injury as the 19-year-old girl jumped 6.76 metre at the Indian Grand Prix. This was second-ever best effort by an Indian behind long jump legend Anju Bobby George, who is also a mentor to Shaili.
Shaili, who is coached by Dronacharya awardee Robert Bobby George, was competing in her first big international outdoor event at the senior level. She had won a silver in the World U-20 Athletics Championships in 2021 with a jump of 6.59m.
In February, she had finished fifth at the Asian Indoor Athletics Championships in Nur-Sultan with a jump of 6.27m.
