Sharath Kamal bows out of Chile Open table tennis tournament

Santiago, Apr 22 (UNI) Indian challenge at the Liebherr Chile Open table tennis tournament ended with Achanta Sharath Kamal losing to Hong Kong's Ko Lai Chak 11-13, 12-10, 5-11, 13-11, 3-11, 5-11 in men's singles pre-quarterfinals here.

The top-rated Indian fought the fourth seeded opponent on equal terms till the fourth game but lost the next two without much fight to bow out of the ITTF Pro Tour event.

Women's duo of Mousumi Das and Madhurika Patkar were thrashed by Japanese pair of Ai Fukuhara and Haruna Fukuoka 8-11, 7-11, 9-11, 6-11 in the pre-quarterfinals.

All other Indians, both men and women, had earlier crashed out of the tournament with none of them failing to go beyond the second round.
