Sheetal's remarkable accuracy provided a strong start to her campaign as she looks to add another major title to her growing collection of international honours.

Sheetal Devi Sets New Asian Record

The Indian archer's score of 704 underlined her consistency across the 72-arrow qualification round. Her performance surpassed the Asian record she had previously improved with a score of 698 at the World Archery Para Series in Ahmedabad in September 2026.

Sheetal had entered the Asian Para Games as one of India's leading medal contenders, having established herself among the world's best compound archers.

According to the qualification reports, compatriot Payal Nag also produced an encouraging performance, finishing fifth with 675 points and giving India two archers in the top five.

Sheetal Devi's Impressive International Career

Sheetal has enjoyed considerable success since making her mark in international para archery. At the 2022 Asian Para Games in Hangzhou, she won two gold medals and a silver. She subsequently secured a mixed team bronze medal alongside Rakesh Kumar at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.

She further strengthened her reputation by winning the individual world title at the World Archery Para Championships in Gwangju in 2025.

Born without arms, Sheetal shoots using her feet and a specially adapted technique that allows her to draw and release the bowstring. Her achievements have made her one of India's most prominent para-athletes. With the qualification round complete, Sheetal will look to carry her record-equalling form into the elimination stages as she targets further success at the Asian Para Games.
