Shilpi, Filisha in joint lead in girls U-17 inter-school chess meet

Mumbai, Nov 1 (UNI) Top seed Shilpi Jain of N M Junior College and third seed Filisha Shah of AVM Juhu were in joint lead in the U-17 category after the third round of Mumbai Youth and Interschool chess championship 2008 here today.

In the third round Shilpi playing with Black pieces defeated 2nd seed Bhakti Juikar in Slav defence game in 49 moves. Filisha also outwitted Priya Lotlikar of St Annes, Borivali with black pieces in 55 moves in the French Defence Variation.

In U-17 Boys group top seed Shantanu Bhambure (ELO 1945) of CNM School was shocked by fifth seed Bhaumik Doshi (ELO 1724) of S K Somaiya Jr College, Vidya Vihar in the Queens Gambit game.
