Shimla, Jan 19 (UNI) Shimla, used to cool vintage car rally and brisk heritage walks, will now get thundered with racing motorcycles, courtesy Team Avalanche which is organising 'Shimla Motorcycle Challenge 2008'.
Within the stretch of one year 'Team Avalanche' has scheduled six sequels of the motorcycle races to take place. The first event in the series is slated to flag off on January 27.
The Department of Youth Services and Sports of Himachal Pradesh government and The Indian Oil Corporation have nodded to support the event.
About 7.7 kms of long stretch of mountanious circular road will be a challenge for bikers to face.
Every rider will get three laps on track from a halt start, with fastest lap time in any lap deciding the winner.
The competition will be divided into a total of six classes based upon cubic capacity of the vehicle and their levels of modification.
The rider who will accumulate high points in every race with excellent score at the end of season will emerge as 'Shimla Motorcycle Champion'.
