'Shootout' dir Apurva gets MoM award in IFFA XI vs Yorkshire XI
Leeds, June 9 (UNI) 'Shootout at Lokhandwala' director Apurva Lakhia proved his mettle as cricketer also as he got man-of-the -match award for scoring a hard hiting 22 and chipping with a few wickets in IFFA XI's win over Yorkshire XI in a Twenty20 match here.
Legendry Dickie Bird was also one of the umpires in the match played at Headingley Carnegie stadium yesterday.
IFFA brand ambassador Amitabh Bachchan was present during the match alongwith son Abhishek and daughter-in-law Aishwarya apart from a host of other cricket and Bollywood stars.
Batting first, the Yorkshire side, led by former England Test cricketer Devon Malcom, made 142 in the stipulated 20 overs while IFFA XI scored 143 as former India captain Kapil Dev hit the winning runs on the last ball of the game.
Apart from Kapil, the IFFA team had Mohammad Azharuddin, Ajay Jadeja, Riteish Deshmukh, Aftab Shidasani, Arbaaz Khan, Dino Moria amomg others.
The Yorkshire team had former Test stars like Gladstone Small, Sherwin Campbell, Chris Lewis and a woman bowler in Rozeli Budd, apart from captain Malcom.
Dino Moria received the best fielder award.
Chunkey Pandey and budding actress Madhavi Scott were the commentators of the match which saw Indian and other Asian community fans turning up in huge numbers.
