Shubhankar Sharma showed resilience at the Volvo China Open 2025, improving from an 82 in the first round to a 69 in the second.
Despite this recovery, he did not make the cut. Starting from the tenth hole, Sharma had a bogey on the 12th but managed birdies on the 14th and 18th, ending one under par at the turn.

On his second nine holes, Sharma recorded four birdies, a bogey, and a double bogey on the ninth hole at Enhance Anting Golf Club. This performance marked his first missed cut since the Magical Kenya Open nearly two months ago. In that period, he participated in four events, including the Hero Indian Open 2025, making the cut in all.
Haotong Li shares the lead heading into the weekend as he aims for his second national title victory. After an initial two under par round of 69, Li delivered an impressive eight under 63, reaching ten under par midway through the tournament. He shares this position with Hero Indian Open winner Eugenio Chacarra and Finland’s Tapio Pulkkanen.
Li first gained attention nine years ago by winning his maiden DP World Tour title at the 2016 Volvo China Open. He secured his fourth victory earlier this year at the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters. Playing in the morning wave, Li set a clubhouse target with six birdies and an eagle.
Eugenio Chacarra joined Li at ten under par after scoring five birdies and a bogey in his four under round of 67. The Spaniard made four consecutive birdies from the fourth hole but dropped a shot with a bogey on the ninth. A birdie on the 16th brought him back to share the lead with Li.
However, Chacarra appeared concerned after finishing his round due to a thumb injury sustained when he hit the ground while laying up from thick rough on the final hole.
Overnight leader Tapio Pulkkanen also joined Li and Chacarra at the top of the leaderboard after completing 36 holes. He carded four birdies and three bogeys for a one under par second round of 70. Germany’s Jannik de Bruyn trails by two strokes in fourth place on eight under par following a six under round of 65.
Zecheng Dou, a three-time Korn Ferry Tour winner, sits in fifth place on seven under after also carding a round of 65. The competition remains fierce as players vie for top positions heading into the final rounds.
