The global lighting powerhouse, Signify (Euronext: LIGHT), is ready to brighten up ten grassroots courts of the Brahmaputra Volleyball League (BVL) in Assam, India. The program's subsequent phase was launched in a ceremony held at the BVL Barbari village center's Community Volleyball Court in Nalbari.
The event was graced by the presence of three Olympic Gold Medalists, namely, Gilberto Amauri de Godoy Filho (Giba) from Brazil, Mireya Luis from Cuba, and Vladimir Grbic from Serbia. This initiative will bring the total to over 120 BVL courts that Signify has illuminated.

Signify's involvement is set to make a substantial difference in Assam. The Federation Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB), Volleyball's topmost global organization, has acknowledged the BVL, also known as the Community Volleyball League, as among the largest community volleyball leagues globally.
This project will help over 7000 children hailing from remote villages in Assam, offering them a well-lit environment to pursue their love for volleyball. Signify, realizing the crucial role that lighting plays in sports, is providing professional-grade illumination that adheres to the national standards required for sports events. The superior lighting will enhance visibility, leading to a safer and more enjoyable experience for the players.
Signify's Head of Marketing and CSR, Nikhil Gupta, showed enthusiasm for the project, saying, "We are honored to be involved in a project that creates a platform for young talent in Assam to shine brightly in the future.
The partnership with FIVB and the participation of legendary players will undeniably create a lasting impact on the community, inspiring future sportsmanship in the country. This initiative extends beyond merely illuminating courts; it is our pledge to foster and promote grassroots sports, nurturing talent at the heart of sporting communities."
Abhijit Bhattacharya, the founder of BVL and a former Indian Volleyball Team captain, also shared his excitement about the project. He said, "Located in northeast India, Assam experiences early sunsets, which have previously limited practice time. I am thankful to Signify for lighting up the BVL courts.
Now, children can practice during the evening and night hours, and night tournaments can also be conducted. The lighting solutions installed by Signify meet the national volleyball standards, enhancing spectator involvement and inspiring other children for future sporting opportunities in India. This initiative promotes a sense of community amongst hundreds of villages through sports."
In conclusion, by lighting up BVL courts, Signify is utilizing the power of light to create brighter lives and a better world. This project is more than just about sports; it serves as a beacon of hope and opportunity for the communities it reaches. As the project takes off, Signify reiterates its commitment to positively impacting communities through the power of lighting.
