Singapore lashes out at no-show Palestine

By Staff

SINGAPORE, Oct 29 (Reuters) Singapore's soccer coach Radojko Avramovic lashed out at Palestine after his side were left kicking their heels at their World Cup qualifier.

Once again, the Palestinians failed to show up in the city state and Singapore were awarded the win after kicking off alone but Avramovic was not appeased by the walkover win.

It was the second time the Palestine side had failed to turn up for a match with Singapore. Last year, they failed to show up for an Asian Cup qualifier.

''They choose to play the games they want to play. It's not very good,'' 57-year-old Serb Avramovic blasted yesterday.

''It has not only wasted our time, but more seriously, disrupted our preparations for the next round. We need all the matches we can get and this is simply not good.

''Now we're stuck with no match practice and having to prepare for the next round,'' he told tabloid Today.

Singapore will now try to arrange a friendly before the second round qualifiers.
