Sinimole eyes Olympics, may skip National Games

Jamshedpur, Jan 11 (UNI) Promising young athlete and Doha Asiad bronze medallist Sinimole Paulose expressed her desire to train with world class athletes in a bid to get more international exposure.

Sinimole, the 23-year-old athlete from Ernakulam in Kerala and a cadet of Tata Athletics Academy, reached here for the first time after annexing bronze in 1500 m race in the recently concluded Asian Games.

She was accorded a warm reception at her arrival here yesterday.

Talking to the mediapersons here, Sinimole said the Indian athletes lacked in strength, endurance and speed to compete in the international arena and a stint with best overseas trainers would definitely improve her performance.

She also aimed to perform better in the 2008 Beijing Olympics provided she got an opportunity for a proper training from the best foreign trainers and compete particularly in the European circuit.

Senior functionaries of Tata Steel had reportedly agreed with Sinomole and decided to send her overseas to train with foreign coaches.

Tata Steel sports department chief Satish Pillai said he would talk to the top brasses of Athletic Federation of India in this regard to obtain permission.

Sinimole, who received a cash award of Rs two lakh from the Kerala government, however, was disappointed for not getting a suitable job and so far received a 'cold response' both from the government and corporate houses.

The ace athlete hinted that she might skip the Guwahati National Games.''After a hectic international and national tournaments I need a recovery period. So as of now I might not participate in the forthcoming event. But I am yet to take the final decision,'' Sinimole said.
