Sinsamut Klinmee Seeks Trilogy With Old Tormentor Regian Eersel Ahead Of ONE Fight Night 16

By Mike Joseph

Sinsamut Klinmee has become something of a stalwart feature in ONE Championship's lightweight Muay Thai division. But after three knockouts in as many fights and two World Title opportunities, his quest for the ONE Lightweight Muay Thai World Title continues to escape his grasp.

The Thai sensation returns to Lumpinee Boxing Stadium's iconic ring in Bangkok, Thailand, once more on Saturday, 4 November, at ONE Fight Night 16: Haggerty vs. Andrade, in a sequel against British bruiser Liam Nolan.

"Aquaman" already holds a second-round knockout victory over Nolan from their previous meeting in July 2022 at ONE 159. That led to back-to-back outings against the divisional kingpin in Regian Eersel.

Sinsamut gave Eersel a run for his money in both outings. The first was a narrow split-decision loss in October 2022 at ONE on Prime Video 3. The Thai made a strong account of himself on that night, despite the defeat.

And by many people's estimations, the Pattaya pouncer was ahead on the cards in their immediate rematch this past March at ONE Friday Fights 9. Ultimately, Sinsamut succumbed to a brutal body shot in the fourth-round. But that hasn't put an end to his World Title dreams.

"It took time, but I eventually came to realize that I didn't want to give up. I looked at my nephews and the kids at my gym. I tell them all the time to not give up. If I don't bounce back and try again, who am I to tell them these things? I feel like I have to be a good role model for them," Sinsamut said.

"There's nothing I would have done differently. I gave my best. I shoot my shot. I have no regrets. It's all about moving forward now."

Despite back-to-back defeats, Sinsamut plans on completing the trilogy with Eersel. And he wants the third time to be a charm. The Thai returned to winning ways in July at ONE Friday Fights 24, obliterating Victor Teixeira in a statement-making second-round knockout.

Sinsamut's drive for gold has shifted into a new gear since victoriously returning to action. And he admits Eersel has become his main source of motivation to keep on training.

"Aquaman" earned his first shot at the Suriname striker after knocking out Nolan last time around. And if history is to repeat itself at all, "Aquaman" hopes to earn another shot at Eersel with a victory at ONE Fight Night 16.

"Regian Eersel has become my motivation. I want to win against him," Sinsamut said. "I know it's hard. However, he's become my goal, my challenge, and my purpose to train hard every day. I'd like to face him again if it's possible."
