Six Gophers Earn NFL Scouting Combine Invites, Setting New Record

By Tanisha Chhabra

Six former Minnesota Gophers have been invited to the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine, setting a new program record. The invitees include quarterback Max Brosmer, wide receiver Daniel Jackson, offensive tackle Aireontae Ersery, defensive end Jah Joyner, linebacker Cody Lindenberg, and cornerback Justin Walley. The combine will take place from February 27 to March 2 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, where these players will showcase their skills in front of NFL scouts and executives.

This year’s six invitations surpass Minnesota’s previous record of five players invited in 2001 and 2002. The Gophers are now among 18 schools with six or more players at the event and rank fifth in the Big Ten behind Ohio State, Oregon, Michigan, and Iowa. Notably, Minnesota is also one of just 13 schools in the nation with six players representing different positions, highlighting the team’s depth and talent across the board.

Quarterback Max Brosmer, a transfer from New Hampshire, had an outstanding season for the Gophers in 2024. He completed 66.5% of his passes for 2,828 yards and 18 touchdowns while leading Minnesota’s passing offense to new heights. Brosmer is only the fourth Gopher quarterback ever to receive an invite and the first since Mitch Leidner in 2017.

Offensive tackle Aireontae Ersery played a crucial role on Minnesota’s offensive line, earning strong pass-blocking grades. His performance secured him a potential first or second-round draft projection, with analysts praising his strength and mobility. He follows a line of talented Gopher linemen to make it to the combine under head coach P.J. Fleck.

Wide receiver Daniel Jackson proved to be Minnesota’s top target in 2024, hauling in 75 catches for 863 yards and four touchdowns. His ability to play both inside and outside, combined with his solid hands and route-running, make him an underrated yet promising prospect for the upcoming draft.

Defensively, Jah Joyner, Cody Lindenberg, and Justin Walley each played key roles for Minnesota in 2024. Joyner’s pass-rushing skills, Lindenberg’s tackling ability, and Walley’s strong coverage made them standout performers. Their combine invites highlight their potential to contribute at the next level.
