SLC demands $1 million to participate in tri-series

By Staff

Lahore, Sep 3 (UNI) Sri Lankan cricket board today demanded one million dollar from their Pakistani counterparts to appear in the unscheduled One-day series to be held in South Africa.

Pakistan is trying to organise a tri-series involving Sri Lanka and the host South Africa to make up for the postponement of the Champions Trophy, scheduled to be held from September 12 at two venues- Lahore and Karachi.

According to the sources, PCB had offered 300,000 dollar to the financially struggling Sri Lankan board to take part in the proposed tri-series.

However, the Sri Lankan board had asked for more than one million dollar, sources said.

''The interesting thing is that even the Pakistan Board is close to a financial crunch and not in a position to shell out one million dollars for this one series,'' one source said.

Sources also added that the PCB is trying very hard to make the series possible.

''Pakistan is now trying to first rope in sponsors and broadcasters for the series and have asked them to up their prices to meet Sri Lanka Cricket's demand,'' the source said.
