Slivenko sets world record, wins two golds

Bangkok, Sep 24: Russia's Oxana Slivenko set a new world record and landed two gold medals in the women's 69kg at the weightlifting world championships today.

Slivenko lifted 156kg to win gold in the clean and jerk and 120kg to take the snatch silver on her way to winning the overall gold, setting a new mark of 276kg in Chiang Mai, Thailand .

The record beat the previous mark held by Chinese lifter Liu Chunhong by one kg.
