Tashkent, Oct 15 (UNI) Czech Republic's unseeded Pavel Snobel shocked seventh seed Flavio Cipolla (Italy) to enter the quarterfinals of the USD 125,000 Tashkent Challenger tennis tournament here today.
In the second round match, the left-handed Snobel outplayed Cipolla 6-3, 6-0 in a one sided encounter.
Third seeded Denis Gremelmeyr, fourth seeded Michael Berrer (Germany) and home favorite sixth seeded Denis Istomin also moved into the last eight stage of the competition.
Gremelmayr showed great form in disposing off Frenchman Edouard Roger Vaselin 6-4, 6-3 while Berrer went through a close second set beforeovercoming Polish player Lukasz Kubot 6-3, 7-6 (7-5).
Cheered on by his home crowd, Istomin came back from a break down in the second set to score an impressive 6-2, 7-6 (7-4) win against German Daniel Brands and stop a German hat trick of wins.
