Sobers credit India with having well-balanced side

Mumbai, Feb 22 (UNI) Legendary West Indian all-rounder Gary Sobers today said that after breaking most of the batting records, Sachin Tendulkar is likely to prove his utility as a bowler on the Carribean tracks during the World Cup next month.

'' Most people do not realise about the Indian side is the little man Sachin Tendulkar can bowl cleverly,'' Sobers said, adding, ''Sachin had come out as one of India's best bowlers when the going got tough because he knows what he is doing and is a clever bowler.'' The former West Indian captain was speaking to reporters on the sidelines of an event to promote Barbados Tourism.

Sobers, while praising the Indian team as being well-balanced, said that off spinner Harbhajan Singh could be India's trump card at the mega event next month.

''Harbhajan Singh is a good spinner, he could be your key man.

Anil Kumble is improving with age. I listened to a programme yesterday in which he said he is still learning after all these years. That shows how keen he is,'' he said.

Sobers, who captured 235 Test wickets, however, said the host country had the best chance to win the coveted Trophy in the ninth edition of the tournament beginning on March 11.

''I think this is the best time for us. This is the time that we can really look forward to handle the World Cup,'' he said.
