By Staff

Margao, Nov 22 (UNI) Table toppers Sportng Club de Goa and formidable second placed Air India will lock horns in a crucial ONGC I League match to be played at Nehru stadium Fatorda here tomorrow.

Both the teams are equally matched in all the three departments and put in a disciplined performance in the high profile league so far.

The local Sporting Club de Goa, a well knit team at the moment with 19 points, is placed at the top of the table with six wins, one draw and two defeats. It would certaintly be going all out to maintain its position.

While Air India with 16 points from equal number of outings, with four wins, four draws and only defeat against Churchill Brothers too would be looking for a win, as full points will keep them in the hunt for catching the table toppers.

Sporting, flying high on the home performance in the earlier outings, hope to bounce back from the stunning 1-3 drubbing they suffered against East Bengal in the away match and only draw against Mahindra United in a goaless draw in the last match.

Sporting coach Vishwas Gaokar confidently said ''Boys will put a good peroformance tomorrow, capitalising on home advantage, as we have lost five vital points in the last two outings against East Bengal and Mahindra.'' The coach said midfielders Joe Pereira and Wilton Gomes, who were nursing injures, are fit now and both will be included in the team tomorrow.

''Air India is good team and they will really put up a good show in their last outings. But we will enter into the field aiming full points, as both the last matches of the first leg are important and must win, to matain the position at the top. Our last match of the first leg will be against JCT also on home ground,'' he added.

Air India coach Bimal Ghosh was optimistic about the win in the crucial match tomorrow.

He said ''Sporting will be playing on their home ground which is an added advantage for them. Sporting is a good team and we respect their team performance.'' Air India too boost of very good midfield and striking force Michel Toyo, Surojit Roy, Emanuel, Subahsh Singh and Samonsn Sigh have done well but the real fight will be when they face Amos and Junior Eligah, who can cause a lot of destruction for the visitors.
