Sports connects alumni, celebrates camaraderie & shared memories

Sports connect is huge at all levels. It's not only at the school and college levels, but it's also a celebration at the alumni levels. Sports have a unique way of bridging generations and communities. Whether it's the energy of school competitions, the vibrant atmosphere in colleges, or the nostalgic celebrations among alumni, these events create spaces for networking, camaraderie, and shared memories.

They remind us that the spirit of teamwork and competition can transcend time, uniting individuals from all walks of life. It's a wonderful celebration of alumni spirit!

The event at the Jaipur Polo ground, with nearly 200 Sanawar school alumni from around the world, truly emphasises how sports can unite people regardless of their backgrounds or stature. It's not just about the friendly competition on the field - it's a chance for former students to reconnect, share memories, and create new ones in the vibrant spirit of spring.

Such gatherings remind us that the bond forged during school days continues to thrive, transcending time and distance.

Why a polo match then, which isn't an easy sport by any stretch of imagination. Why not a cricket match when Indian coach Gautam Gambhir's maternal uncle Pawan Gulati of 1983 batch is also a part of the event?

Pankaj Sapru, who is the president of the alumni body informed cricket is also a part of the curriculum. Also, Sanawar has contributed a lot to 61 Cavalry and polo being world's oldest team sport on horseback, it rekindled the spirit of sports at all levels.

"We have been actively doing this for last 25 years and it was only for three year it has stopped because of the pandemic. Otherwise, our alumni body is quite active even in cricket also," Sapru, who lives in Pune, said with a beaming smile on his face.

Four houses of Sanawar have a cricket bash every year in Mohali. This year too, the cricket tournament is between March 8 and 9. There is also a cricket tournament for school teams of five - that player 11 games in three days.

And top schools like Doon, Mayo College, Scindia School and Daly College have a yearly tournament. Truly, what school and its alumni are doing a great job to promote sports in the country in their little ways!
