In an effort to propel India into the forefront of the global sports arena, a significant Chintanir, under the leadership of Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Minister of Youth Affairs & Sports and Labour & Employment, is set to take place in Hyderabad on March 7-8.
This initiative aligns with the broader vision of preparing for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics and India's aspirations to host the 2036 Summer Games. The session aims to unite sports ministers from across the nation, alongside top sports administrators, government officials, and experts, to brainstorm strategies for India's sporting development.

The gathering, set to be held at Kanha Shanti Vanam, is designed to be a melting pot of ideas fostering the advancement of sports governance, talent scouting at the grassroots level, infrastructure enhancement, inclusivity, and collaborative efforts. These discussions are geared towards laying down a concrete roadmap that will elevate India's status as a leading sports nation.
Dr. Mandaviya, who is at the forefront of actualizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision for sports in India, emphasizes the importance of collective action and sharing innovative practices among states to bolster the sports ecosystem.
The agenda for the Chintan Shivir is comprehensive, covering various governmental schemes, partnerships with corporates for sports development, talent identification, promoting sports governance, and the expansion of initiatives like Khelo India & Fit India. Moreover, the welfare of athletes and coaches, along with the goal of inclusivity in sports, are also priority areas for discussion.
"Achieving Olympic excellence and establishing India as a global sports power is our clear goal," stated Dr. Mandaviya. He highlighted the success of Indian athletes at the Uttarakhand National Games as a testament to the country's vast potential.
"By pooling our ideas and best practices, we can establish a structured and enduring sports framework. The dream of hosting the Olympics is a national endeavor, and it's crucial that we advance in unity," he added.
Another crucial topic will be the integration of former athletes into coaching and administrative roles, which Dr. Mandaviya identifies as key to bridging the current gaps in the sports domain. This approach aims to leverage their experience to enhance the quality of coaching and mentorship available to upcoming talent, thereby enriching the talent cultivation pipeline.
The Chintan Shivir endeavors to act as a springboard for significant reforms within the Indian sports landscape, ensuring India's preparedness for future Olympic challenges and its journey towards becoming a global sports powerhouse.
Through collaborative strategies and innovative practices, this summit holds the promise of shaping a new era for Indian sports, where achieving global recognition and success becomes a tangible reality.
