Sri Lanka claim consolation win over Pakistan

SYDNEY, May 23 (Reuters) Sri Lanka beat Pakistan by 115 runs in the third one-day international in Abu Dhabi to claim a consolation victory in a series they lost 2-1.

Sri Lanka, World Cup runners-up, made 296 for nine from their 50 overs after winning the toss, captain Mahela Jayawardene top-scoring with 83, before Pakistan slumped to 181 all out in the 43rd over, yesterday.

Chamara Silva made 64 for Sri Lanka, sharing a partnership of 124 with Jayawardene to steady the innings after Iftikhar Anjum had claimed three early wickets for Pakistan.

Sri Lanka seamer Dilhara Fernando completed figures of three for 20 as Pakistan crumbled, captain Shoaib Malik providing the only resistance with an unbeaten 79 from 85 balls, including four sixes and four fours.
