Srinagar Khel Sankalp 2026: India Pitches A New Playbook For Sporting Future In Jammu & Kashmir

The Srinagar Khel Sankalp document was released in Srinagar on April 26, 2026, on the final day of the three-day Chintan Shivir. Union Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya led the launch, joined by State Sports Ministers and several leading sporting stalwarts.

The document sets a shared national vision for sports in India. It stresses cooperative federalism and athlete-centric planning. Key focus areas include infrastructure growth, talent search, regional sports clusters, and using sport to support unity, youth empowerment, health, tourism, and economic growth.

Centre, States and UTs adopt joint approach

The Srinagar Khel Sankalp records a joint resolve of the Centre, States, and Union Territories to place sport at the core of nation-building. It notes sport as a tool for social cohesion, strong communities, and a healthier, more confident generation across India.

The document calls for close coordination between governments and sporting bodies. It urges aligned plans and shared resources. The aim is a smooth and supportive system for athletes at every level. It also renews India’s wish to host events like the Olympics and World Cups.

Diversity, industry and youth at the centre

The Sankalp urges States to use India’s diversity as a strength. It asks them to shape facilities and talent systems around local geography, culture, and regional sport. It links sport with tourism growth, new jobs, local industry support, and wider socio-economic benefits.

The final day opened with the Fit India “Sundays on Cycle” Cyclothon, led by Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya and MoS Smt. Raksha Khadse. Later sessions on Sports Governance, Sports Goods Manufacturing and youth engagement through MY Bharat stressed better systems, fair practices, and cluster-based growth in sports goods.

Speakers underlined the need for clear roles and teamwork across the Centre, States, industry, and youth bodies. The Chintan Shivir was framed as a shared space for dialogue and coordination, aimed at a strong, inclusive and future-ready youth and sports ecosystem in India.
