SSVs announced for 2008 Commonwealth Youth Games

Pune, June 8 (UNI) A total of 1,500 Sports Specific Volunteers (SSV) have been announced today for the 2008 Commonwealth Youth Games (CYG), slated to get underway, at the Shiv Chhatrapati Sports City at Balewadi, near here, from October 12 to 18.

The Games Technical Conduct Committee (GTCC) convenor Pralhad Sawant, while addressing the members under the aegis of the Press Club here, disclosed that a total of 1500 qualified SSVs from all over the state have been selected to oversee the nine disciplines, -- Athletics, Badminton, Boxing, Shooting, Swimming, Table Tennis, Tennis, Weightlifting, and Wrestling, during the mega event.

''We have taken utmost care and precision in selecting the SSVs who will be performing their duties to perfection during the games, which will be showcasing the country's technical expertise, of very high standings,'' Sawant said.
