Stamp Fairtex, Denice Zamboanga to Unify ONE Atomweight MMA World Title at ONE 173: Denver

The moment combat sports fans have been waiting for has finally arrived. Reigning ONE Women's Atomweight MMA World Champion Stamp Fairtex returns to action at ONE 173: Denver on Saturday, 2 August.

Last night, ONE Championship announced its highly anticipated return to the United States. There, Stamp and interim queen Denice Zamboanga will clash in a ONE Atomweight MMA World Championship unification bout at Ball Arena in Denver, Colorado.

These two superstars were set to face off at ONE 167 in June 2024. However, the Thai megastar tore her meniscus during a training session. As a result, the fight was called off.

Zamboanga then faced Noelle Grandjean, extending her winning streak to three. This January, the Filipino fan-favorite challenged Alyona Rassohyna for the ONE Interim Atomweight MMA World Championship. The 28-year-old defeated the Ukrainian by TKO to claim the interim strap.

After Zamboanga's crowning moment, Stamp stepped into the ring to face off with the new interim champ, confirming that their showdown was inevitable. Interestingly, both are now riding four-fight win streaks.

Notably, the 27-year-old Thai made history in 2023 by defeating Ham Seo Hee to capture atomweight gold. In doing so, she became the first-ever three-sport World Champion. She previously held both the atomweight kickboxing and Muay Thai belts.

The Fairtex Training Center athlete is also the ONE Atomweight MMA World Grand Prix Champion. She boasts an impressive promotional record of 15-4, with seven destructive finishes to her name.

Unifying the belts won't be an easy task for Stamp, as "The Menace" has been in incredible form recently. Out of her nine bouts in the promotion, she has won seven. Only two of her defeats came against the same opponent in Ham.

The matchup between the two former teammates will be one to remember. This will be ONE Championship's third event in the United States and second time Stamp competes in front of American fans. Last time, she knocked out Alyse Anderson in ONE's first-ever show in Colorado.
