Stephen Curry Knee MRI Clears Structure Yet He Is Not Ready To Play

Stephen Curry’s second MRI on his right knee shows no structural damage, offering reassurance to Warriors fans. Despite the clean scan, he will miss several games and be re-evaluated in ten days after patellofemoral pain syndrome and bone bruising, as Golden State manages his return amid a playoff push.

Stephen Curry has avoided serious damage to the troublesome right knee, with a second MRI showing no structural issues, but the Golden State Warriors will still be without the two-time NBA MVP for at least five more games before another medical review.

The 37-year-old guard remains central to Golden State’s season, averaging 27.2 points per game, while the Warriors sit eighth in the Western Conference, two games ahead of the Los Angeles Clippers and Portland Trail Blazers, with any slide to ninth or 10th triggering a tougher play-in route.

Curry Knee MRI Clears Structure, Out

Curry has not featured since 30 January and has been diagnosed with patella-femoral pain syndrome and bone bruising, commonly known as runner’s knee, with Warriors staff planning a new assessment in 10 days to track how the soreness responds to rest.

Warriors coach Steve Kerr explained that the discomfort has persisted longer than hoped, saying before facing Boston, "Its just lingering soreness, Kerr said Thursday before a game against Boston." Kerr added, "We were hoping, obviously, that hed be ready for tonight after getting the All-Star break but wasnt the case." Kerr summed up the situation simply: "He just needs more time."

The latest timetable means Curry will remain sidelined through at least the next five fixtures, extending an absence that started before the All-Star break, while team medical staff aim to balance the short-term need for wins with Curry’s ability to manage ongoing knee pain.

News of the clean MRI and planned re-evaluation was also outlined by reporter Shams Charania on national television, with further details shared on social media as the Warriors monitor how long they must cope without their leading scorer.

While the scans offered relief that surgery is not required, the Warriors face a careful balance between chasing a secure playoff spot and protecting Curry’s longer-term fitness, aware that dropping to ninth or 10th would require two play-in wins just to reach the postseason.
