San Antonio Spurs' Stephon Castle is optimistic following De'Aaron Fox's impressive return to the court. Fox made a strong season debut on Saturday, scoring 24 points to lead the Spurs to a 126-119 win over the New Orleans Pelicans. Despite recovering from a hamstring injury, Fox showed little rust during his 31 minutes of play. This marked his first game since March 12.
Fox joined the Spurs from the Sacramento Kings in February. Coach Mitch Johnson praised his performance, highlighting why San Antonio acquired him. "He's dynamic," Johnson stated. "He's done it plenty of times and it's good to have him back on the court, and hopefully we can just continue to build."

Fox is taking a careful approach to avoid re-injury. "For me, as a player and as a competitor, obviously I want to get out there," he said. "But I'm listening to [the medical staff] and they have the best interest for me because obviously I signed a contract to be here long term, so they want to protect the asset and make sure the asset is ready when I'm out there."
Castle expressed excitement about Fox's return, emphasizing his offensive contribution. "We've been waiting for Fox to get back, really all summer," Castle remarked. "It's great to have him back on the court. Obviously, you see how much of a help offensively he is for us. It's only up from here."
Fox trusts the process set by the medical team and believes their summer efforts were successful. He aims to ensure he's fully prepared when playing again. His cautious approach aligns with his long-term commitment to the team.
The Spurs are hopeful that Fox's return will boost their performance this season. His dynamic playstyle is expected to significantly enhance their offensive capabilities as they aim for continued success in upcoming games.
