Strachen and Cue Sports to clash in finals

Pune, Dec 4 (UNI) Holders Stratchen Champs and Cue Sports (India) ended the challenges of first time semi finalists DA Hustlers and Kirkee Billiards Club to earn a spot opposite each other in the finals of the PYC-ATC Snooker Challenge Series at the PYC Gymkhana hall today.

The tournaments highest break of 91, recorded by Aditya Mehta, saw him give Stratchen--who are vying for their third title in this fourth edition of the championship--a resounding 4-1 victory over Sidarth Baran. His good work was continued by former international Devendra Joshi, who also registered an identical 4-1 win over Mohan Jagtap to see them through.

Earlier, Kirkee Billiards Club put up a plucky fight to go down to Cue Sports (India). The 3-nil win, scored by the formidable Mumbai Club, only flattered to deceit them. Sivam Arora had to bring out all his experience into play to end the challenge of Pramod Aiwayar 4-3 and Neeraj Kumar just about managed to get the better of veteran Haribhau Mirajkar 4-2.

Kamal Chawla, however, had no such problems and he conquered Ashok Hule by 4-2 in the process recording a break of 56 in the sixth frame for a decisive win triumphing by 73-15, 46-59, 39-47,74-21, 71-18 and 101-9.
